"I didn't mean to say I thought it was chronic wasting disease, just that  its strange to see no wound or trauma, and a young deer. Is anyone testing for this ?"

Today on our property we found a freshly dead adolescent deer, ~200 yards for the road, no obvious sign of trauma, no sign of bleeding, in a running pose. It was a relatively warm night overnight. Haven't seen this before. I'm concerned about  chronic wasting disease?  We live in Frederick County.   Any advice on reporting, or disposing of the deer ? Is there an official tracking reporting center? I'll call the nearby park resource management on Mon. as this is the weekend.See More

"We have a 6 acre mountain top parcel of woods above Thurmont on a north facing slope. Our trees are mainly Oak, with Beech, Maple, and gum. Our woods are very healthy this year with very few invasive plants. We do have Japanese Stilt grass…"
