It is difficult for woodland owners with less than 10 acres to access assistance from professional foresters. Service foresters with the DNR Forest Service do not the resources to assist woodland owners with less than 10 acres and consulting and industrial foresters have a hard time charging for their time on smaller acreages.
University of Maryland Extension recently developed a Small Acreage Professional Forester Directory and it is posted on our website. http://www.naturalresources.umd.edu/SmallAcreageForestersDirectory1...
These foresters have indicated they are willing to work on smaller acreages. How they charge for their services is up to them. Any feedback on the use of the directory would be appreciated. You will notice that most of the professional foresters listed in the state directory are in the small acreage directory.
